Okay, this is hysterical:

Ohhh, boy. I haven't giggled this hard at anything on the internet since watching that youtube video about the Stadium Pal. I don't know about anybody else, but if my husband felt like memory foam, we'd have a problem. It's the sort of thing that I might get as a practical joke for a recently-single friend, but I don't know if it would be very funny. Mostly because I'd be cackling before she opened the box, and that would probably ruin it. I have the feeling that this is one of those things that is inexplicably funny to me and semi chuckle-worthy to the rest of the world. Oh, well.

on coming attractions

Okay, this is our blog. It's rather dull right now, but that pretty well reflects our rather unexciting life at the moment. But in around 5 1/2 months, life should get a lot more interesting around here. So I may be jumping the gun a little, but I thought it was about time to start recording some dates, milestones, and feelings so they don't get too lost in the craziness that will soon be our life! So here goes, with a few dates, mostly...

• September 2008 - Scott and Lisa get the crazy notion that starting a family may not be too bad an idea. They also decide that, since getting pregnant may be difficult, starting sooner is better than starting later.



• October 2, 2008 - Getting pregnant is not difficult. Two home pregnancy tests (why do we never want to believe just one?) assure them that their carefree childless existence is over. They are not sure whether they are more excited or shocked, but things don't feel real enough at this point to worry too much about it. They look forward to Lisa's first appointment and ultrasound to make the pregnancy feel more real.



• October 27, 2008 - During a rather uncomfortable ultrasound experience, Scott and Lisa are excited to hear the baby's heartbeat. Then they wonder why the tech has apparently gone back and recorded the heartbeat a second time. And then the tech says, "You've got twins in there!" So much for everything seeming more real. Cue the shock and denial sequence one more time...

• November 20, 2008 - At Lisa's next appointment, both heartbeats are found, and denial becomes much less of an option. Lisa and Scott decide it's time to inform the general public of their situation. Lisa begins obsessively researching double strollers.



• December 24, 2008 - Lisa purchases two miniature stockings to hang up for Christmas. Scott wonders which of their three pets she has left out. Have I mentioned that we are having issues coming to terms with reality?



• January 5, 2009 - The next appointment, and the "big" ultrasound. It will be done at a specialist's office because of the "high risk" feature of twin pregnancies. We hope we will get to find out what flavor(s) we are having, even though the babies will only be 17.5 weeks. Lisa is just glad they are doing this ultrasound from the outside and not the inside like before.
